Entertaiment – article
From Latin intertenere, meaning ‘to hold inside’ (the prefix inter means ‘inside’) and the suffix tenere (from the Indo-European root ten, to stretch): to entertain. Entertaiment refers to activities, such as play and movies, which give pleasure to audiences. What is entertainment for one person may be deadly serious for another: public punishment, once entertaining, has now largely been removed from the public arena, while sports such as fencing or archery, which are necessary skills for some people, have evolved into global competitions and broadcast as entertainment.
